Welcome Home, Louie!

For the past three years, Louie has been persevering through homelessness. The KCB outreach team helped connect him to temporary housing at New Hope Shelter, an emergency homeless shelter in Bellflower operated by Mercy House. While staying at New Hope Shelter, he was able to get the care he needed and was linked to mental health resources. Through Telecare, he was matched to a housing voucher that secured his 1 bedroom unit in Los Angeles. Louie was anxious when hearing the news he was matched to housing and excited to move-in and finally have his own place. Our team supported his move-in by covering his security deposit, first month’s rent, utilities, assisting with transportation, and providing a fridge. We’ll continue to follow up with him from month to month and provide him with case management throughout the year. He’ll also continue to receive ongoing case management from Telecare.

How to pray for Louie:

  • Pray that he has a smooth transition from living on the streets to living in his own home.

  • Pray that all his needs for his new home will be provided.

  • Pray that he’ll be connected to a supportive community who can care for him at this time.

Welcome Home, Maria!

Maria had been homeless for the past year, but by the end of May, she had moved into her new home. We were first introduced to Maria when our partner’s from LAHSA referred her to our outreach team who then connected her to temporary housing at New Hope Shelter. While we worked with Maria, she was matched to a project based voucher leading her to a studio apartment that has onsite case management to assist her in retaining her permanent housing. To help her prepare for her move-in, our team took her grocery shopping and paid her security deposit, as well as her first month’s rent. She is so happy to have a home and has enjoyed getting to know her neighbors. Maria will not only have the support of our team as she navigates living on her own, but she will also receive help from the Alcott Center and Exodus Recovery.

How to pray for Maria:

  • Pray that Maria’s friendships with her neighbors deepen and that she’s plugged into a supportive community.

  • Pray that Maria finds time to rest and enjoy the freedom of living on her own.

  • Pray for wisdom for her case managers who continue to provide her with care and guidance.
