Summer at Margaret’s House (Plus, Introducing Summer Activity Baskets!)

The families at Margaret's House are embracing the spirit of summer with open hearts and big smiles. Their days are filled with a vibrant social calendar, offering them countless opportunities to create beautiful memories together. From community barbecues and water play days to summer camp adventures and exciting field trips, the families are immersing themselves in the joys of the season.

Within these summer activities lie countless precious moments that fill our hearts with happiness. The children, in particular, have been blessed with new experiences that they will cherish forever. Thanks to the support of the Bellflower community, they have been able to embark on enriching adventures. Their visit to the aquarium, where they were captivated by the sight of stingrays and exclaimed, "I've never seen an animal like this in real life!" will forever be etched in their memories. And as they attend summer camp for the first time, their excitement and eagerness to share stories from the day demonstrate the joy they find in exploring new opportunities.

Witnessing the families at Margaret’s House enjoy the summer with one another gives us a beautiful picture of what this hospitality home is all about—keeping families together and safe while they seek sustainable housing. Too often unhoused families become separated or forced to live in their cars due to limited shelter spaces available for families. We’re grateful that Margaret’s House is a resource that keeps families united and provides them with the safe space they need.

As the families at Margaret’s House press into the summer season, we as a community can show our love and support by putting together something we like to call "Summer Activity Baskets." Help us continue to bring the joy of summer to these families by providing the following baskets:
