Larry's Story

This week we said “see you later” to one of our Good Soil Industries (GSI) route managers. Larry (also known as “Turtle”) was hired at a new job, which represents a great opportunity to grow. He will be missed, but we are excited for him. Larry is yet another story of success with GSI.

Larry started at GSI in 2021 as a program participant, and after demonstrating leadership ability was hired as a Route Manager in 2023. On his last day this week Larry shared part of his journey, starting with the day he got the job as Route Manager. Larry said, “I felt surprised, I didn’t think I was gonna get that job.” This testimony is a reminder that God has plans for all of us, and that sometimes we are surprised!

In addition to his origin story, Larry shared gratitude for the opportunity to work with some great people at KCB. Larry expressed thanksgiving for Andrew, Tim, Ray, Gene, George, Alexa, Jason, Sam, Giselle, Valerie, and Javvy. Everyone played a different role in Larry’s life, including listening, training, and being great team members.

During his time, Larry worked hard as a Route Manager. He was patient and friendly, and for part of his time he drove one of our older vehicles that no longer had functional air conditioner. This was particularly challenging during hot summer days, but Larry maintained a great attitude.

As he departs, Larry said, “I’ve worked a lot of places, but this is the only one I’m really gonna miss.” The feeling is mutual. When asked for prayer requests, Larry asked for prayers of safety. With a twinkle in his eye, Larry said, “I’m old and I don’t want to get a heart attack or get run over!” Please pray for Larry as he pursues his new job and seeks to build new relationships.

We are reminded that God is faithful, and that He guides each one of us on our respective journeys. We will miss our friend Larry, but we are excited to see how God uses him in the future beyond GSI.
