The christmas store model

This Christmas, you can give 3 gifts in 1!

  1. A toy for a child whose family is experiencing tough financial times

  2. Dignity for that child’s parents, because they get to buy their own gifts for their kids

  3. Money for a charitable cause chosen by the parents

There’s no doubt that times are tough for many families in Bellflower. We anticipate that this year, more than ever, families are going to struggle to give their children presents on Christmas morning. There are many ways to address this issue, but we believe the best method of helping our neighbors is creating a community Christmas store where parents can purchase gifts at a fraction of the cost. We believe this method is rewarding to both parents and children in need. Parents are blessed with the gift of picking the perfect gift for their own kid. The children are blessed with a Christmas gift actually from their parents, and the program provides a meaningful way for the more fortunate families to donate children’s gifts during the Christmas season. And the coolest part is that the proceeds from the store go back into charitable causes: 50% goes back to fund the store for next year, and the remaining 50% goes to a charitable cause chosen by the parents who are shopping that year! In 2017 families donated $651 to World Renew’s Disaster Relief Fund for Northern Calif. Fires.

This model was inspired by the Pride for Parents Christmas Store from FCS Ministries. Click here to watch a great video explaining why we “sell” the gifts instead of giving them away.
