Christina (Chrissy) worked for Kingdom Causes for 5 years at its very beginning, and made an incredible impact on our community. She then expanded her skill set by acquiring her Master’s in Urban Affairs, serving on the board of a community development cooperation, and working for the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC) in Boston. We are thrilled that she returned to Bellflower and has been leading our organization as we continue to seek God’s Kingdom together in our city.

Becky Vanderzee, LCSW
Director of Housing Programs

Becky graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Social Work, and then from California State University, Long Beach with a Masters in Social Work in 2008.  During her time as a graduate student, Becky moved to Bellflower from Chino, California where she was raised.  Becky has spent the last 6.5 years working with people living with HIV all over Los Angeles County.  She became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in April, 2012.  Her work with Kingdom Causes and Our Place Housing Solutions began in 2011 when she began her service as a member of the Board of Directors. Now, she leaves her position as a board member to join the Our Place Housing Solutions staff.  Becky is excited to be working to help her neighbors within a community of people who love the Lord and are passionate about seeing His love tangibly spread throughout the community.

Jason Barnette
Director of Good Soil Industries

Jason Barnette is a grateful believer in Jesus Christ. He loves the mission of Kingdom Causes and is blessed to be working with them. He has a beautiful wife named Kim Barnette and four kids that serve Christ. He got connected with KCB through the homeless breakfast at Calvary Bellflower Church, where he is a leader and member. He loves serving our neighbors that don’t currently have an address.

Todd Pheifer

Development Director

Todd started doing development work in 1985, and he is excited to tell the story of KCB! A native of Seattle, Washington, Todd graduated from Calvin College in 1994. Since then, he has earned a Doctorate in Higher Education and three Masters degrees in Business, Humanities and College Counseling. Todd served on the KCB Board of Directors for nine years, and he considers it an awesome privilege to join the staff and spread the stories of transformation in the Bellflower community. When he isn’t writing or teaching at two colleges, Todd enjoys spending quality time with his family, working out, rooting for his favorite sports teams, and watching movies.

Andrew Nishimoto
Director of Business Operations

Andrew is a graduate from Grace College and has his B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing, as well as a Masters in Pastoral Counseling.  For the past 8 years, he has worked in vocational ministry in Bellflower as a pastor to young adults and youth.  Previously he worked as a customer account specialist for State Farm and a consumer education event organizer for Johnson & Johnson.  He looks forward to continuing to invest in the community of Bellflower and its surrounding cities.  He enjoys wrestling with his son, playing games with his daughter, and going on dates with his wife.  He also enjoys almost all sports and has been known to be a little competitive while playing. Andrew is excited to join the team at KCB and help them continue to be a catalyst in the community!

Dominique Rustad
Finance and Office Coordinator

Dominique is a graduate from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics. While at CSULB she served as President of Alpha Delta Chi, a Christian sorority, as well as a member of the President’s Ambassadors program. Her favorite time is spent at Crosspoint Church serving as a leader in the high school ministry. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and exploring donut shops. She is most passionate about serving others while sharing the love of Christ.

Homeless Outreach Navigator

Though originally from Texas, Manny is a committed Bellflower resident! In addition to his role at OPHS, Manny is the youth pastor at Neighborhood Christian Fellowship (right down the street from our offices!) Manny first came on the team as a “Community Fellow” in the Eucalyptus neighborhood. Now, Manny is part of our housing team, specifically working with our homeless neighbors to get connected to housing resources. Additionally, he puts his background in film to good use by handling all of our KCB and OPHS video needs.

Case Management Specialist

Heather graduated from UC Irvine in 2002 with a Bachelors in Criminology and then obtained her Master in Social Work from USC in 2006 with an emphasis in working with Children and Families.  She has been practicing as a psychotherapist primarily working children and at-risk youth population since graduating, in residential and outpatient settings and most recently for a year in India overseas.  For the past several years Heather has served as a board member of Kingdom Causes and Our Place Housing Solutions and was compelled to consider loving her neighbors through the ministry of her profession in the very place where she first learned how to love her neighbors, Kingdom Causes, and welcomed the opportunity to join their team full time.

Case Manager

Ashley grew up in Long Beach and attended California State University, Long Beach. She graduated with  a Bachelors in Women Studies, and became passionate about helping her community, especially women. Before working as a Case Manager, she enjoyed working with students in the Long Beach School District. She also volunteered at Long Beach Rescue Mission, which lead her to intern at Lydia House. She is so excited to be a part of OPHS team and is looking forward to making an impact on our community as a case manager!

Grenisha Parker

Housing Navigator

Originally from South Central Los Angles, Grenisha and her family have been living in Bellflower for the last 15 years. While serving on the mission field in Uganda and Hong Kong, the Holy Spirit exposed her to the true definition of servanthood as she lived amongst marginalized people groups. Grenisha is in her last semester at Biola University, completing her B.S. in Sociology with a double minor in TESOL and Biblical Studies. Her studies brought her to KCB as a volunteer to complete social work hours and she soon became a vital part of our team as our Homeless Outreach Intern. For the past few years, she has been serving a high school youth group leader at Rosewood Church. Grenisha’s heart thrives to watch people become transformed by the power God.

Daina Villanueva

Transportation Navigator

Daina Villanueva grew up in this area, and is passionate about serving the homeless because she was once in their position. She helps our homeless neighbors by providing transportation to their medical, DMV, and other social service appointments. She loves her job and the people she works with at KCB and OPHS. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her grandkids!

Cindy has been living in Bellflower for over twenty years. Before coming on board with Kingdom Causes Bellflower, she worked in medical billing. Making the switch has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and she enjoys working as the receptionist being on the front lines of our operations. Cindy loves to partner with her community through volunteering and art programs.  She is currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Ashford University. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies, music, crafting with her kids, and working on art pieces with her husband.

Robbie Santis
Volunteer Mobilization Coordinator

Originally from Florida, Robbie went to school for Cross-Cultural Studies and has a big passion for the nations and for marginalized people groups. He has served globally as an ESL teacher, volunteer, and missionary in over 12 countries. While he works as the Volunteer Mobilization Coordinator here at KCB, Robbie is also a life coach for adults with developmental disabilities. His focus is to work on joining the church to the community through service and to empower anyone, who is willing, to be a catalyst for change in the city of Bellflower.

Route Manager

Eugene is one of the handiest and hardest working employees at Good Soil. He came to Kingdom Causes Bellflower through the fatherhood program at Positive Steps. He was hired on by Good Soil as a participant and quickly demonstrated an ability to lead by example and troubleshoot problems. He has moved into the route manager position and is loved by all the participants for his hard-work and infectious laughter. Gene gives special thanks to the staff at Good Soil for seeing in him, what he couldn’t see in himself.

Ulises has been a part of the Good Soil team since 2015, he began as a participant and after a year has taken on more responsibility as a route manger . He enjoys leading the guys in his truck and doing his best work on the route! We are thankful for the leadership, steadiness, and positive attitude that Ulises brings to our team.
